Hard drives are used for storage and can range from 3GB to 1TB in size. They are IDE devices which means they are controlled by an IDE controller. There are two types of this a primary or secondary and they are connected using an IDE 40-pin 80-conductor ribbon data cable. There are three settings that they can be set on, master, slave or jumper.
